Roasted Crunchy Garbanzos

Chickpeas, also called garbanzo beans, belong to the legume family, which includes a variety of beans, peanuts, soybeans and lentils. Opting for legumes over foods high in saturated fat might lower your risk of heart disease, according to the Linus Pauling Institute. Chickpeas also offer specific health benefits, and consuming them regularly boosts your intake of a few key nutrients.

Crunchy Garbanzos
INGREDIENTS
• 1 can chickpeas (garbanzo beans)
• 1 tbsp olive oil
• Spices (to your taste: chili powder, ground cumin, paprika, garlic powder, cayenne pepper, sprinkle of sea salt and cracked pepper)

For a sweet twist, leave out the spices and mix the olive oil with 2 tbsp teaspoons of raw honey and cinnamon to taste
Pinch of sea salt.

Rinse beans until they are no longer frothy and then pat until totally dry. Toss in olive oil and spices until coated (or your sweet twist concoction). Place in a single layer on baking sheet then bake at 400 degrees for 30 minutes (stirring once or twice). Makes three servings.
